The Suez Canal is one of the most important water bodies in the world and a major shipping route. It strategically sits between Asia, Africa and Europe and connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Red Sea. It takes about 12 hours to cross the 190km long canal. Vessels need to move slowly, because the total width of the canal is about 200 meters only. Captains must also consider the terrain below the water to prevent grounding. CGTN’s Zhao Yunfei is aboard COSCO Shipping Virgo crossing the waterway.
