On December 5, the 8th Hong Kong International Finance Week and China Securities Golden Bauhinia Awards Ceremony was held in Hong Kong. China COSCO Holdings Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as COSCO SHIPPING Holdings or “the company”, SSE Stock Code: 601919; HKEX Stock Code: 1919) won the “Golden Bauhinia Award - The Best Listed Company for Practicing Belt and Road Initiative” as full recognition to COSCO SHIPPING and COSCO SHIPPING Holdings for their active efforts to practice the Belt and Road (B&R) Initiative and facilitate the construction of Hong Kong into an international shipping center.
Today, over 60% of COSCO SHIPPING Holdings’ fleets are deployed along the Maritime Silk Road, with its service being constantly reinforced in the countries and regional markets in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Middle East and Africa. Regarding container shipping as a bond, the company has been committed to building a highly effective integrated operational network to offer all-directional container supply chain service for the B&R construction and promote free trade. All these efforts have won broad acclaim from its clients.
The terminals controlled by COSCO SHIPPING Holdings are mostly distributed along the B&R region. In recent years, the company has increased its investment in the terminal infrastructure construction in Europe, Middle East and Southeast Asia. The Greek Port of Piraeus run by COSCO SHIPPING has become a model of business cooperation between China and Greece, gaining wide acclaim from the Greek government and people. In the first half of this year, the throughput of the Piraeus Container Terminal (PCT) under COSCO SHIPPING Ports saw an increase of 18.4% year on year. It is now the largest port of container transshipment and a sea-land transshipment center in the Mediterranean.
While actively developing its sea-rail intermodal transportation business in a market-oriented approach, COSCO SHIPPING Holdings also commits itself to providing diversified choices and “end-to-end” total transport solutions to its clients. The China-Europe Land-Sea Express Line is under sound development momentum, with several independently operated international lines being opened along the “Silk Road Economic Belt”.
In August 2018, COSCO SHIPPING Holdings completed its acquisition of OOCL and further increased the investment in Hong Kong. After the acquisition, the company kept OOCL as a listed company in Hong Kong, while tapping into the brand value of OOCL, improving its network distribution, and contributing consistently to the development of Hong Kong into an international shipping center.
Taking this opportunity of award, COSCO SHIPPING Holdings will be closely following the four major strategies of “globalization, end to end service, digitization and dual brands”. At the same time, it will integrate the resources of containerships, terminals and supply chains in an enduring effort to improve its international competitiveness, creating value for the clients and yielding profits for the shareholders.
The Golden Bauhinia Award ceremony is jointly held by the Hong Kong Takun Wenwei Media Group, Listed Companies Association of Beijing (LCAB), Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association (HKCEA), Chinese Financial Association of Hong Kong (HCFA), Chinese Securities Association of Hong Kong (HKCSA), Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS), and Hong Kong Securities Professionals Association (HKSPA), winning broad recognition from the industry over the past eight years. During the 8th China Securities Golden Bauhinia Awards campaign, COSCO SHIPPING Holdings finally won The Best Listed Company for Practicing Belt and Road Initiative Award through online voting, approval of the organizing committee, and panel review.
